WHAT YOU’LL BE DOING
As the Research and Innovation Manager, you will lead the development, evaluation, and implementation of new technologies, processes, and strategies to improve wastewater treatment, resource recovery, and sustainability. This role will oversee research projects, process development initiatives, collaborate with industry partners, and recommend innovation to enhance efficiency, compliance, and environmental performance in wastewater management. Your work will be a critical component of UOSA’s Vision to be globally recognized for its leadership in protecting the region’s water resources.

REQUIREMENTS
• Research & Innovation Manager:
o PHD in Environmental Science, Chemistry, Biology, Environmental Engineering, Chemical Engineering, or related field from an accredited four-year college or university required.
o 3-5 years of progressive experience; including experience with water and wastewater resource management.
o Must be able to develop and execute a research and innovation roadmap aligned with the utility’s strategic goals.
o Experience working in a municipal or industrial environment is a plus.
o Strong analytical and problem-solving skills to evaluate innovative solutions.
o Excellent written and oral communication skills o Strong interpersonal skills to work effectively with internal and external stakeholders.
• Must be able to handle the physical requirements of the position, including extensive walking, bending, stooping, climbing stairs and ladders, and lifting/carrying up to 30 pounds.
• Possession of a vehicle operator's license valid in the Commonwealth of Virginia is required.
