Workplaces across the industry are facing an increase in the number of experienced employees retiring and leaving the workforce. This shift is occurring as the baby boomer generation reaches retirement age and is evident across America. These retiring employees have valuable experience and institutional knowledge, built over decades of employment, that organizations are seeking to retain and pass on to rising professionals. This knowledge transfer is of vital importance, but it cannot happen overnight – it requires careful consideration and planning.

Jen Cobb, Assistant Director (Operations) for Waterworks in Newport News, will share her experience addressing this challenge. Topics will include strategies for knowledge transfer between more experienced and newer employees, succession planning, and hiring practices to account for a changing workforce.
