Born a Crime: Stories from a South African Childhood is Trevor Noah's 2016 autobiographical book about growing up in apartheid South Africa as the son of a Black Xhosa mother and a white Swiss father, an illegal relationship at the time. The book uses humor and personal anecdotes to explore themes of race, identity, poverty, and family, particularly his relationship with his resilient mother, while navigating a world where he was literally "born a crime".
