The number of work zone (WZ) crashes has increased in recent years putting both roadway workers and passing motorists in danger. This session will examine WZ safety hazards and the effectiveness (and ineffectiveness) of commonly used safety signage and personal protective equipment (PPE).

Protecting the water system is priority number one for any utility and having a solid cross-connection control (CCC) program is central to this goal. This session offers a discussion of the essential elements in a CCC program, including the proper use of backflow prevention devices for various hazards, new testing requirements, and changes to the regulations concerning cross-connection. Anyone involved with the water distribution systems, inspections, or running a cross-connection control program is encouraged to attend.
