Addressing the Challenges: Insights For Planning
SERVICE LINE INVENTORY DEVELOPMENT
The Lead and Copper Rule Revisions (LCRR) require water utilities to develop a lead service line (LSL) inventory and submit it to the State by the compliance deadline of October 16, 2024. This inventory will be the basis for much of the LCRR compliance program including lead service line replacements and will impact tap sample locations. Developing a detailed inventory of service line materials can be challenging especially due to several challenges such as:
  • limited, incomplete, or incorrect records for material identification
  • access for inspecting LSLs on private property or inside homes
  • understanding data quality and method accuracy
  • resources for developing a LSL inventory
  • acceptance and validation of predictive modeling
  • making the LSL inventory publicly accessible and available online
In this webinar, we bring together industry experts from the Virginia Department of Health (VDH) and water utilities to discuss regulatory requirements and share their experiences in LSL inventory development. The webinar will share the latest insights from forthcoming USEPA guidance on inventory development.

Understand the regulatory requirements of developing service line inventories as per LCRR

Explore funding resources for lead service line replacement including Virginia Department of Health’s LEAP program

Investigate utility experiences and lessons learned in planning and developing service line material inventory
