If you have attended WaterJAM before, you can appreciate the opportunities this conference provides. The Annual Meeting, which typically draws over 3000 attendees, features timely technical presentations, fascinating keynote addresses, and more than 250 product exhibits. With numerous receptions and social events, there is ample time to network with colleagues. Each year, this event is arranged by the WaterJAM Committee, along with the following subcommittees:
- Exhibits are responsible for the layout of the Exhibit Hall, distributing information to potential exhibitors, and coordinating with exhibitors who opt to attend. Additionally, the Exhibits Subcommittee assists with the coordination of special events in the Exhibits Hall, such as Rapid Tappin' and the Operations Challenge.
- Local Arrangements are responsible for working with the host facilities to plan menus, guest/spouse programs, and other special functions. This subcommittee also plans the golf tournament and any technical tours that may be offered.
- Marketing and Communications are responsible for all marketing and promotion of the annual conference, including the website, magazine and newsletter articles, conference planners, boards, and signs, and social media.
- Technical Program develops the conference sessions and schedules and coordinates the selection of technical abstracts. Beginning in 2003, abstracts were selected by a blind judging process. Abstracts are reviewed and selected by over 100 reviewers from different employment sectors (e.g., utility, consultants, academia, etc.) and with varying areas of expertise.
- Young Professionals arrange conference activities tailored to young professionals (under 35 years old) in the water and wastewater industry. From a YP Workshop and guest panel to the YP poster contest, and social activities from cornhole to the service project, the YP subcommittee makes sure the conference stays fun and interactive.
For the latest information on this year's annual meeting, see our Training & Events section of the website. Events are published throughout the year including a call for papers, exhibitor sign-up, and online registration, as they become available.
