The Waterworks department is looking for an Electrical Specialist to perform complex skilled and technical work in the repair, maintenance and installation of electrical system, lines, fixtures and equipment. At the Specialist level, you’ll be expected to train and provide guidance, direction, and instruction in electrical systems, and assist with recruiting and selection activities!
 
Day to day, you could be performing a variety of tasks like troubleshooting, performing preventative maintenance, or repairing uninterruptible power and battery supply systems, and electrical lighting circuit breakers, panel boxes, and other electrical components.
 
You will also use your knowledge and skills to assist in designing, planning, and estimating the cost of various electrical projects for the department facilities.  In addition to making recommendation on repairs and upgrades, you will also serve as the point of contact for vendors and contractors to coordinate delivery of parts and supplies, and any contracted work.  Some administrative work will be required like maintaining work order records, maintaining activity logs, and inventory of spare parts initiating ordering of replacement supplies and equipment, and maintaining inventory.  This is an exciting opportunity to put all of your skills to work and make an impact in your local community!
 
How much money can I make?
The salary range for this position is $32k-$80k.  Salary ranges are competitive based on education, qualifications, certifications, and experience. In addition to salary, the City offers a comprehensive benefits package designed to meet all of our employee’s needs!

What are the qualifications for this position?
We are excepting applications for all levels of Electrician. Graduation from a recognized related apprenticeship program may substitute for up to one year of experience. We are considering all levels of Electrician for this position.
 
Electrical Specialist - Requires a high school diploma and 5-7 years related experience in the electrical or electronics field, or an equivalent combination of education and experience. Requires a valid State of Virginia Master Electrician’s License.
 
Electrician II – Requires a high school diploma, valid Electrical Journeyman’s Card and 2-4 years of experience in the servicing, maintenance and repair of electrical systems or an equivalent combination of education and experience.
 
Electrician I – Requires a high school diploma and 1-2 years of experience in the servicing, maintenance and repair of electrical systems or an equivalent combination of education and experience.
 
This position will also require satisfactory results from local and state criminal background check and pre-employment medical screening, and a valid driver’s license with an acceptable driving record.
