The Town of Culpeper’s Environmental Services Department is seeking qualified applicants for a Laboratory Analyst.  The successful candidate will coordinate and perform essential laboratory requirements for the water and wastewater treatment plants; ensure proper laboratory methods are followed; perform method proficiency testing and laboratory inspections; oversee quality control assurance procedures for all laboratory analyses that may affect discharge permit parameters; train staff on laboratory procedures; oversee completion of maintenance on all laboratory equipment; prepare report and maintain records; and perform related tasks as required.  Candidate must have thorough knowledge of principles, practices, equipment, materials, procedures of modern water or wastewater laboratories; thorough knowledge of state and federal standards and regulations governing laboratory testing for water or wastewater plants; thorough knowledge of occupational hazards and safety precautions at work; ability to lean complicated, technical material about the use and maintenance or laboratory instrumentation and equipment; ability to interpret laboratory and statistical data and apply effectively to plant operations; ability to detect and resolve laboratory testing problems; ability to communicate effectively, both verbally and in writing; and ability to establish and maintain effective working relationships.

Salary Range - $41,430.81 - $72,918.22
 
Any combination of education and experience equivalent to graduation from an accredited college or university with major coursework in chemistry, biology, environmental science or related field and two years of experience in water or wastewater laboratory testing and quality control.
