On March 20th, the full Senate Environment and Public Works Committee will hold a hearing on the Lummis bill, an exemption for water and wastewater utilities from CERCLA liability. Paul Granger, a member of the AWWA Water Utility Council, will testify on behalf of AWWA. Water utilities are strongly urged to send letters to the Chair and Ranking Member in advance of the hearing. The more, the better!
A copy of an example letter provided by AWWA can be downloaded below. Feel free to utilize it and, hopefully, adapt to your own circumstances or thoughts. It is addressed to both the Committee Chair and Ranking Member. The letter should be emailed to both the Majority and Minority staff persons as follows:
joe_brown@epw.senate.gov (Minority)
john_kane@epw.senate.gov (Majority)
If you wish to follow through with a hard copy letter, you can mail it to each Senator at:
