Greeley and Hansen seeks a Resident Engineer to work on complex wastewater projects in Maryland, DC and Northern Virginia.  The successful candidate will be responsible for overseeing Construction Management, Inspection  and Field Services including on-site observation, coordination with client and contractor representatives, conducting construction progress meetings, facilitating responses to RFIs, managing document controls, reviewing schedules and progress of work as well as assisting in resolving field conflicts. The first assignment will be as a Resident Engineer for a large, complex project for a utility within the greater Washington, DC area.
 
 
ESSENTIAL RESPONSIBILITIES
• Oversees construction management services for the client that maybe performed in a field office, at a client's facility, or in our offices in Silver Spring, MD and Alexandria, VA
• Monitors construction contractor progress and confirms compliance with contract drawings, schedules and specifications
• Facilitates resolution of issues and responses to contractor’s requests for interpretations as well as anticipate, mitigate, and evaluate claims
• Reviews contractor’s progress schedules
• Documents construction progress through reports; conducts monthly progress meeting and prepares meeting summaries; maintains project files and prepares and processes change orders
• Leads meetings and resolve conflicts

QUALIFICATIONS
Education: Minimum Bachelor’s degree in Civil or Environmental Engineering required.
Experience: Minimum 10-12 years construction experience on heavy civil projects including rehabilitation of large diameter sewers or water mains, installation of large valves, rehabilitation of pump stations and treatment plants, and other large general construction projects required.
Certification: PE is required (State of Maryland PE or ability to obtain via reciprocity).  Virginia PE, CCM certification are preferred but not required.
Professional/Technical: 
• Works well as part of a team and as an independent worker capable of exercising reasonable engineering judgment and evaluation.
• Excellent organization and documentation skills. Able to run an effective construction meeting with a contractor and owner present.
• Strong understanding of the construction process: RFI, change order, pay application, start up, punchlist, and close out.
• Ability to read and understand construction documents and critical path method (CPM) schedules.
• Knowledge of quality assurance and quality control procedures associated with pipe construction inspection and maintenance, concrete, electrical systems, mechanical systems and other construction materials.
• Knowledge of construction management information systems/databases including project controls software for document management and scheduling.
Leadership:
• Leads meetings and resolves conflict.
• Directs and provides coaching to the project team in construction quality, schedule, and cost performance, or monitoring thereof in agency roles.
• Works proactively with the project team to drive the project to completion through problem solving and partnering.
