The Business Analyst A position is responsible for the development, implementation, and support of specialized computer software applications.  This position coordinates and performs a variety of technical and strategic functions, and applies them in support of utility infrastructure asset management program for the Waterworks Department. Internal departments rely on this position to assist with troubleshooting software issues, recommend solutions, and implement software upgrades. Analysts must ensure that software is reliable, secure, functional, and cost-effective for the City.
 
The Business Analyst will also apply and manage GIS within the Utility Infrastructure Asset Management Program and ensure that asset management policies, practices, procedures, and theories are applied. The position is also responsible for maintaining knowledge of current statewide policy initiatives, best practices, legislative, regulatory, and policy developments that affect Waterworks’ Utility Infrastructure Asset Management Program and may assist with identifying funding strategies.
 
In addition to the technical responsibilities, the Business Analyst will also make recommendations for areas of operations to which automated data processing may be applied to increase efficiency and reduce costs, participate in the development of computerized systems for use in work measurement recording, cost accounting, and specific project application and trains software users.
 
This position frequently communicates with multiple divisions and provides customer service, so clear communication skills and the ability to create interpersonal relationships are a must! There is also some documentation and administrative work required.
 
How much money can I make?
The salary range for this position is $44-$75k.  Salary ranges are competitive based on qualifications and experience. In addition to salary, the City offers a comprehensive benefits package designed to meet all of our employee’s needs!
 
What are the qualifications for this position?
This position requires a Bachelor’s Degree in Information Systems, Asset Management, Public Administration, GIS, or a related field with 1-2 years of experience in business analysis, or an equivalent combination of education and experience.
 
An acceptable general background check to include a local and state criminal history check and a valid driver’s license with an acceptable driving record will also be required.

This position will work within the Waterworks IT Division, but will also work closely with the City’s centralized Information Technology Department.
