Courageous Conversations Workshop

When: Thursday, September 14, 2023 | 12:30 PM to 4:30 PM
Presented by the DE&I Committee
Cost: $65.00
Continuing Education Credits:  3.5 CPE for Wastewater Operators and 3.5 CEUs for Professional Engineers

Have you ever wanted to ask someone a question but were afraid you’d offend or upset them? Do you want to know why the difference between equity and equality even matters? Do you hear people talking about “inclusive workplace” and wonder what it all means? Not sure how to answer your employee’s question about what they should and shouldn’t say related to diversity and inclusion?

Join us at the Courageous Conversations workshop for a one-stop learning session focused on diversity, equity, and inclusion (DEI) that will help you with all these and more! This workshop features two unique segments:

  1. DEI Q&A: this panel discussion will answer all your DEI questions in a safe, non-judgmental environment so you can openly ask the questions you’ve had or been asked. This welcoming and understanding panel will answer each question and offer help in navigating DEI questions in your own workplace. You can submit questions ahead of the workshop to an anonymous form or pose your question live during the workshop.
  1. Creating an Inclusive Workplace: A series of table talks aimed at helping you understand small, important ways you can create a more inclusive work environment. Creating an inclusive workplace improves employee satisfaction and builds trust and commitment within work groups. These table talks are designed to demonstrate small actions you can take to make a big, positive impact in your workplace.
**Note:  You don't have to attend all of WaterJAM in order to attend this workshop.  You can register just for this one spectacular event.  Also, if you are already registered, start a new registration and use the same email address.
