NOVA YP Service Project - Vegetation Trimming Near Fort Hunt Park

The VWEA | VA AWWA Northern VA Young Professionals' Committee will be partnering with The Friends of Mount Vernon Trail to improve the trail near Fort Hunt Park.  Volunteers will remove vegetation growing into the trail.  Snacks will be provided by the committee.

Volunteers may perform some of the following work:

  • Using pruners and loppers to cut vegetation
  • Using hand saws to cut tree branches
  • Sweeping or using a leaf blower
  • Picking up trash


What to Bring:

  • Water
  • Gloves (We'll have some to borrow)
  • Pruners or loppers (We'll have some to borrow)
  • Long sleeves and long pants (we sometimes encounter poison ivy)

 

Where to Meet:

We will meet at the Fort Hunt Park comfort station off the MVT. See image below for more info.
