For more than 40 years the American Water Works Association and the Virginia Section have used Drinking Water Week as a unique opportunity for both water professionals and the communities they serve to recognize the vital role water plays in our daily lives.
 
This year's recognition will be May 1-7, 2022.

 Children's Activities

Join VA AWWA for this year's Children's Coloring Contest.  Kids are encouraged to color themselves enjoying drinking water on this cute coloring page.  All artwork submitted using the #DrinkH2OVA hashtag automatically gives permission for VA AWWA to share the child’s artwork, first name, and age on media platforms including but not limited to, print, social media, and web platforms.  Submissions can also be entered using this online form with parental/guardian consent.  The best ones will win a prize from VA AWWA along with having their photo highlighted on VA AWWA's social media channels.  Submissions are due by May 8th.

Drinking Water Week is a perfect time to celebrate all those that make it possible.  Here are a few suggestions for recognizing your employees for the great work they do all year long.

Public And Internal Communication

  • Create a utility newsletter feature on Drinking Water Week
  • Send bill stuffers.
  • Coordinate distribution of AWWA press releases.
  • Publicize the release of your consumer confidence report.
