This award was established to recognize the interest and demonstrated activity of a member of the Virginia Section AWWA, who has contributed to the progress of the Section by securing the greatest number of new members in the parent association during a one‐year period and to honor the memory of one deceased member of the Virginia Section who made outstanding and distinguished contributions to the Section.

 

The recipient shall be a member of the Virginia Section who has secured the greatest number of new members in the parent association during a one‐year period.
 

The selection of the membership award will be made based on the number of points accumulated during the year ending July 1  preceding the date of the annual meeting of the Virginia Section AWWA. Points will be accumulated based on four (4) for an Active Member, two (2) for an Affiliate Member, and one (1) for every seven dollars’ worth of dues for Utility and other types of memberships. Student membership will not be included. There will be one recipient annually.

 

The selection of the deceased member will be made by the Board of Trustees based on a list of deceased members provided by the Executive Director.   

 

The membership recipient will be determined by the number of points after July 1.  The name will be presented to the board at the August Board meeting.  The Board of Trustees will select the honorary member at or before the Summer Board meeting.

 

The Executive Director will tally all candidate’s points based on the system outlined in the eligibility requirements and present the top candidate to the Board of Trustees.
