Outstanding Young Professional Award

This award recognizes a Young Professional (traditionally 35 years of age or younger) who, through individual effort, has made significant contributions to either VA AWWA or VWEA.  The award winner will be announced at WaterJAM each year.

Please consider nominating an outstanding YP by sending their name, contact information, and reasons for the nomination to the YP Committee Chair, no later than June 6th.

Award Criteria
This award will be given annually to recognize a VA AWWA/VWEA Young Professional (traditionally 35 years of age or younger) who, through individual effort, has made significant contributions to either Association in the form of activities including volunteer work, committee work, leadership activities and/or paper presentations.

Purpose of the Award
To recognize and reward the significant contributions of a VA AWWA and/or VWEA Young Professional member, as well as the organization that supports the involvement of the young professional.   Additionally, the award is intended to encourage and inspire other young professionals to become actively engaged in VA AWWA and/or VWEA.

Nominating Process
Both VA AWWA and VWEA will be responsible for advertising the YP award to the Associations.  VWEA will receive and compile nominations.  The YP Award Selection Committee (Committee) will be formed each year and will consist of the three immediate past YP award winners.  The Committee will review the packet of nominations provided by VWEA.  The Committee may also nominate additional qualified candidates for consideration.  The Committee will select an awardee, which will be announced at WaterJAM annually.  However, if a qualified candidate has not been nominated, the Committee may request that the nomination period to be re-opened or suggest that no award be given that year.
