Henrico County Public Utilities is seeking two Senior Engineers.  The Senior Engineer plans, manages, and provides policy direction on difficult and advanced engineering work in the field and in the office for the Design Division of the Department of Public Utilities; does related work as required.
Private Development Section Senior Engineer: the first position supervises the day-to-day operations of the Private Development Section of the Design Division, including plan review staff and public information section staff. This position provides direct supervision of all Private Development The Senior Engineer is responsible for the review of the more complex projects and provides engineering guidance and technical solutions to the staff, on complex engineering issues, related to both plan review and building permit review. The Senior Engineer also coordinates with Engineering Technicians and at times the County Attorney, during the preparation of Utility Agreements to ensure all County requirements and needs are met. This position also assigns the projects to the plan review staff and ensures that plan review schedules are met. The Senior Engineer works on special projects, as assigned by the Design Division Director, related to private development issues, metering issues and interdepartmental issues. The Senior Engineer is also responsible for coordinating Plan Review Schedules to streamline plan reviews, maximize team effectiveness, and ensure deadlines are met. This position is also responsible for maintaining Credit Record Books for internal records and annual external audits. The Senior Engineer also provides engineering support to the Public Information staff related to building permits and coordinates with Operations on sewer questions and plant and process exclusion meter installations.
 
Capital Improvement Program (CIP) Section Senior Engineer: the second position directs the day-to-day operations of the CIP Section of the Design Division, including capital projects, planning, modelling, water and sewer main design, streetlights, and GIS. The Senior Engineer is responsible for the review of the more complex projects and provides engineering guidance and technical solutions to the staff on complex engineering issues related to CIP projects. The Senior Engineer also coordinates with DPW and Planning on project requirements. This position also assigns the projects and ensures that project schedules and budget are met. The Senior Engineer works on special projects, as assigned by the Design Division Director, related to Economic Development projects and interdepartmental issues. The Senior Engineer assists the Design Engineer in preparation of the CIP program for Public Utilities that includes the Water Treatment Facility, Water Reclamation Facility, Operations, and Solid Waste divisions.
